BIDEFORD INTERACTIVE INTERPRETATION CENTRE

HERITAGE DISPLAYS IN OUR PARCELS & MISCELLANEOUS VAN

Visitors examining the extensive displays in the museum.

Our Parcels & Miscellaneous Van, otherwise known as the green van or PMV, was initially used as a meetings room but was soon fitted out as a museum vehicle. This display was considerably enhanced during 2003 and then again in 2011 and it was an important interpretative element of BRHC’s work, displaying the history of the railway through Bideford from 1854 to 1982.

There is now a temporary exhibition in the van whilst it is transformed into an interactive interpretation centre following the receipt of Heritage Lottery funding. Opening in May 2019.

Our 00 scale model of Bideford station in the 1950s.  This has been enhanced as part of the Interpretation Centre project.
