We are open from 10.30 to 4pm from Easter to the end of October on every weekend, and daily during school holidays.
We are a small group so there may be rare occasions when we can't open. If this is the case there will be a message on the Tea on the Train facebook page (below). Please check.
When we are not open the site is still accessible from the Tarka Trail.
BRHC on Facebook
Bideford Railway Heritage Centre, Instow Signal Box and Bideford Tea on the Train all have pages on Facebook - join us there!
2019, our 30th Anniversary Year, is nearly over but what a great one it's been!
During the winter months we'll be continuing to enhance the site, working on improving our storage and workshop options, all to welcome you back in 2020.
Thanks to the Bideford Bridge Trust for a grant to complete the restoration of our brake van. With the loco and the brake van both on their way to completed restoration, could we be running our train in 2020? Watch this space!
SUMMER GALA DAY 25th AUGUST 2019
An excellent day was had by all. Large crowds enjoyed the site on a beautiful sunny day. After a 12 months-long complete rebuild of its diesel engine, our Planet diesel locomotive was successfully started and driven into the up platform for the first time in six years and the team had their photo taken! Visitors were able to climb into the cab and get the driver's eye view. The good times are back!
Excellent news in our 30th anniversary year.
Our historic railway parcels van at Bideford contains a fabulous interpretation display, with beautiful information panels, a model railway and a high-tech touchscreen interactive.
It's an in-depth historical experience of life on the north Devon railways - come and see us!
